CHARACTERISTICS OF NANOMETRIC PARTICLES OF METAL OXIDES

Introduction. This mini-review examines the mechanisms of damage to bacterial biofilms (BB) by particles metals (Au, Ag, Fe, Cu, Zn, Mg) and their oxides (AuО, SiO, Fe2О3, Ag2O, CuO, TiO2, ZnO, MgO). Emphasis is placed on mechanism which includes formation reactive oxygen species that affect redox state cell and, as a result, its death. The antibacterial action particles, well effect porosity degree swelling apatite-biopolymer composite, were considered in more detail. Due emergence antibiotic resistance biofilms, it has become increasingly difficult treat them effectively. Materials Methods. An analytical review scientific publications was conducted using official databases. research method employed achieve objective. Results. study showed nanoparticles metal could have detrimental various action, including oxidative stress, biofilm inhibition, inhibition protein synthesis DNA damage, metabolic pathways, penetration through membrane, interaction with wall membrane. Conclusion. To further utilize (copper, gold, silver, titanium, iron), primary influence structure (BBs) studied based papers published world’s literature. NPs different classifications differ chemical composition physical parameters, such nanosize surface-to-volume ratio.
